TEACH IN: The Agenda to Build Black Futures Leading Up to the State’s Attorney Elections
In Chicago, many Black people lack the resources needed to live, survive, and thrive while the State’s Attorney is currently benefiting from their trauma. This cycle is putting young Black people behind bars at alarming rates. During this discussion style workshop, participants will learn some of the issues at stake during the upcoming election for State’s Attorney, and discuss how to not only shift oppressive power dynamics, but also share solutions for how to get the resources needed for our communities. Additionally, participants will learn why the position of State’s Attorney is inextricably linked to these issues and why political involvement in the upcoming election is so important.
